Super Bowl 46 Preview and Pick
This year’s Super Bowl is definitely one of the most talked about Super Bowls in history, for quite a few different reasons. For starters though, does anyone remember back to 2008? Maybe one of the craziest Super Bowls in recent memory?
Well, it obviously happened between the two teams who are going head to head in this game, in the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. A quick back story behind that game for those of you who don’t remember, is that the New England Patriots were currently undefeated heading into this Super Bowl, but were upset by the Giants with an incredible last drive from quarterback Eli Manning. While there are quite a few players on both teams who are still playing on their same team, two that definitely stick out are the quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Eli Manning. These two are definitely two of the most interesting players involved in the game, and the rematch between these teams is fueled by these two players.
Today, we are going to take a look at both teams involved in this match-up, break down their strengths and weaknesses, and also give a prediction and pick on who we think will not only win the game, but also cover the spread here as well!
New York Giants
The G-Men strike again. This is eerily similar to back in 2008 when the team got hot at the right time, and made an incredible run through the playoffs to knock off the Patriots and win it all. The Giants are of course led by Eli, but also by one of the best all around receiving groups in the NFL between Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, and Mario Manningham, and also by their incredible defense line and young end Jason Pierre-Paul. This guy is an animal and he should definitely be a player to be scared of if you are a fan of the Patriots. So it seems simple right? The Giants have the firepower and should get the job done, but it’s not exactly that easy. One of their glaring holes comes in their secondary, which is going to be the biggest issue for the Giants against this Patriots team. It’ll be interesting to see how this team steps up, and if they can get that job done this time.
New England Patriots
How about the Pats! Back in the Super Bowl once again, and Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are proving that they are still a force to be reckoned with. The Patriots have a group of receivers and tight ends made up of Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski, and Aaron Hernandez, that is going to cause some serious trouble for this Giants secondary. So the question is, do the Patriots have a strong enough defense to get the Giants back after losing in 2008? While we’d love to think that Tom Brady won’t even need his defense, they are definitely going to need some help to pull out this win. The good news for the Patriots though? Their secondary has looked much improved in the playoffs, compared to the regular season, and I think it could be a huge telling to point as to how this game is going to go.

Free Super Bowl Prediction
I think that just about everyone who is a fan of the NFL is curious if the New England Patriots are going to be able to get some redemption from 2008. My answer to this is pretty simple, as I think that they will get the job done. Some people within the Patriots organization may act like they aren’t even thinking about that situation, but I’m willing to bet that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick absolutely remember losing that undefeated season and losing the Super Bowl. I think that the Patriots defense is going to play a big role in this, as they will cause some key turnovers that are going to help set the tone, and also set up some short fields for one of the best quarterbacks in history to do what he does best, throw touchdown passes. In the end, I think it’ll be a tight game, but I’m going to ride the New England Patriots in a game that I think they will take down by around three points.
Prediction: New England Patriots- 31 New York Giants- 28
Super Bowl Free Pick
I love, love, love this line at -2.5. It was a tough call at -3.5 when it was first released, but I think the Patriots can definitely knock out the win by a field goal at a minimum. I could even see this one potentially being a touchdown game, but I’m going with a field goal to be safe. When I saw it fell to -2.5, it made my decision quite a bit easier, and all in all led to me placing my bet on the Patriots. I’m picking the New England Patriots to not only win the big game, but also to cover the -2.5 on February 5th when Super Bowl 46 kicks off!
Pick: New England Patriots -2.5
